Taking off from the University of Kufa’s message for wanting to be in a firm connection with the community and extending bridges between it and the scientific and cultural establishments across the country, the Department of Learning in Service was thus instituted in the University of Kufa during 1982. It is considered as one of the scientific departments linked with the Vice President of Scientific Affairs and corresponds with the divisions of Learning in Service in the faculties of the university.
The department takes on the responsibility of performing the university’s job of serving the community through accomplishing the goals it was set out to undertake and that are in the form of assisting the establishments and the job market in the community by means of a trained and qualified staff with knowledge, skills and experiences that result in good performance. Ever since, the department has held different training programs and workshops in all specializations, and by means of specialized academics in the University of Kufa and other Iraqi universities, in addition to the institutions and centers in Najaf city and the rest of the governorates. Moreover, the department contributes to withstanding to the problems and phenomenon which the community suffers from and in all fields through making meetings, symposiums and the different cultural activities that reflect a sign of intercourse between the university and the community.
For the sake of keeping up with the continuous and accelerating changes in the community and standing up to the modern challenges, the department has followed an improvement in service strategy because it is the ideal means for ascending in the training program’s quality to bring forth the best community service. This is best done through the exposure to internationally advanced universities and advantaging from their experiences, and conducting studies and strategic researches then applying the inclusive quality programs.

• Connecting with the civil community departments and institutions to stand up for their need of training programs and their fulfillment of community service.
• Getting in contact with Iraqi universities through exchanged visits in order to pass on experiences in the field of training.
The Department of Learning in Service aspires to be the best department in the university and among other universities in Iraq due to the developments springing in the fields of life and because of the accelerating changes in the needs, desires and expectations of the community for the sake of moving forward and advancing in the level of provided services for achieving luxury. As a result of the need for efficient training to prepare qualified and experienced staff members capable of performing their jobs precisely and according to the different specializations, the department was thus set up with the aim of accomplishing efficient training and activating the community service at its highest level.
Providing advanced and modern courses to the university members, other universities, governmental institutions and the civil community organizations, to prepare individuals who are capable of providing the best services to their community, by supplying them with the best and latest techniques for training and teaching.
