The President of the UOK, Prof. Dr. Akeel Abed Yasseen, welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Bahaa Al-Araji at the UOK. The two parties discussed means to develop the higher education, as well as promote scientific sobriety, and benefit from the experiences of developed countries.
Dr. Yasseen presented a detailed explanation of the plans which the UOK intends to implement during the coming period.
He also called for the support of the UNESCO Chair Project, which the university recently acquired from among more than 150 Arab as well as international universities.
Furthermore, the president made note of the training camp which was held by the university to train its students on combat weapons, as a response to the appeal of the higher religious authority. In addition to stressing on the fact that the UOK was the first among Iraqi universities to adopt this project.
For his part, Al-Araji expressed the readiness of the Ministry Council to support the university’s projects and the UNESCO Chair, so as to organize seminars and conferences aiming to develop studies on religious dialogue.
