| After the USA and Its international coalition, occupation Iraq on 2003, A new political and constitutional System was established under the Iraqi Transitional Administrative Law of 2004, the 2005 Constitution of the Republic of Iraq and the Basic Laws promulgated under them.
This political and constitutional system has been preserved in the republican form of government. It has changed the shape of the state from one union to another. It has also defined the representative democratic method of assigning power to the governing of the state and adopted the parliamentary system as the type of political system adopted.
A fundamental change took place in the constituent units of the state in Iraq after the adoption of the federal form when it became a capital, regions, decentralized governorates and local administrations.
The constitutional and legal framework for the establishment of the federal territories was constitutionally approved by the Kurdistan Region and its existing authorities.
The legislative body is composed of the Council of Representatives and the Council of the Federation .The executive body is composed of the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers. The judiciary consists of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Federal Supreme Court.
