Efficacy of some plant powders against the floor beetle Tribolium confusum (Coleoptera: Tenebraionidae)

Abstract

The research was carried out to evaluate the effect of five plant powders: Eugenia caryophyllus, Cuminum cyminum, Piper nigrum, Zingiber officinale and Curcuma longa against the floor beetle Tribolium confusum. The results showed that the powder of Eugenia caryophyllus caused high mortality rate reached 90% after one week of treatment. The powders of Piper nigrum, Cuminum cyminum, Curcuma longa and Zingiber officinale gave mortality rate )68.1, 63.8, 43.1 and 38.7( respectively. The results also showed that all experimental plants have repellent affection for the adult. The results showed superiority Eugenia caryophyllus and Cuminum cyminum in repellent effect, reached 100%.
