The Faculty of Education at the UOK welcomed Dr. Mohammed Ridah Al-Turaihi, a professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of George Town in Washington. Dr. Al-Turaihi presented a lecture on Quranic readings and their impact on linguistic and grammatical researches, in the presence of several faculty students and professors. The researcher discussed the mechanism of speech in humans and the different pronunciation of words between one area and another, as well as their causes. He made clear that humans do not possess a certain device for pronunciation, but in fact there is a biological device that exists for basic functions in order to help humans. Stressing that the multiplicity of Quranic readings vary between Arab countries and also differ in Islamic countries.
