The Faculty of Medicine, at the UOK, hosted a lecture presented by MP Hanan Al-Fatlawi entitled (The Political System in Iraq; Has it Achieved the Ambitions of the Majority?).
The lecture was attended by the President of the UOK, Prof. Dr. Akeel Abed Yasseen, as well as a number of deans and professors from the university.
It dealt with the parliamentary system in Iraq after 2003 and the advantages of this system. Noting that the system pays more attention to the minority rather than the majority, which is suitable for countries with religious, sectarian and national diversity.
Al-Fatlawi criticized the parliamentary system’s inability to reform the military institution and provide services, angering the Iraqi street that is currently demanding the replacement of the parliamentary system to a presidential system.
On the other hand, Al-Fatlawi praised the UOK for its significant constructional development over the past years, as well as being home to a number of renown faculties that meet the needs of the community.
She also toured a number of faculties at the university and stopped by at the university’s guest house.
