The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the UOK, Dr. Ahmed Hameed Al-Azam, recently took part in the Regional Workshop for the Development of Veterinary Education in the Arab Region. The workshop was held by the Scientific Association of Arab Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Jordan University of Science and Technology, in the Jordanian capital Amman.
Al-Azam stated that the workshop witnessed the participation of deans of faculties from various Arab countries. He proudly declared that his participation was a representation of all Iraqi universities, which included a brief presentation on the Iraqi faculties of veterinary medicine, their history, present look, and future visions of development. Furthermore, he went on to explain the nature of their curriculum and mechanisms of development and approval, as well as the role of the Committee of Deans in this regard.
Additionally, the workshop included many valuable lectures on the development of veterinary education. The most prominent of those was presented by the representative of the World Animal Health Organization and Vice President of the European Accreditation Body, the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the French University of Lyon. Among other topics discussed, was the importance of participating in the international conference which will be organized by the World Animal Health Organization in Thailand during June.
