The General Secretariat of the Central Library at the UOK held, for a period of three days, a workshop on Global Classification Systems for Libraries. It was attended by 35 associates from various faculties and departments, in addition to specialists and workers in the library field.
Prof. Dr. Sabah Kalo confirmed in one of his lectures that the session came about to identify the Modern Classification Systems of Libraries and also get to know some of the practical applications in the classification system. Additionally, it seeks to help support and develop workers’ skills in the Central Library and branch libraries on the classification procedures, while focusing on the U.S. Congress Classification System which will be adopted by the General Secretariat of the Central Library. The session extended further to address The Dewey Decimal Classification System and the Classification System of the National Medical Library that is available on the internet.
