The Secretariat of Kufa Mosque organized the First National Quranic Competition, with the participation of students from various Iraqi universities. It was held in the presence of a number of prominent religious, cultural and academic figures.
The UOK won second place after the University of Karbala. Four students from the UOK participated in the competition, these were: Rida Nasr-Aldeen Kasim from the Faculty of Jurisprudence, Munthir Nasir from the Faculty of Engineering, Hussein Mueen Abed Al-Zahra from the Faculty of Law, and Ahmed Hashim Hassan Al-Zamili from the Faculty of Agriculture. Among those four, it was Rida Nasr-Aldeen Kasim, from the Faculty of Jurisprudence, who acquired second place in the competition.
