The UNESCO Chair Office at the UOK hosted a seminar entitled (Religion and the Future of World Peace).
The seminar, which took place at the Faculty of Arts, was attended by the President of the UOK, Prof. Dr. Akeel Abed Yasseen, as well as a number of cultural and academic figures. The guest speakers were part of a delegation from the National Church and the Armenian Catholic Church.
The Cardinal of the Roman Catholics, Cardinal Theodore Edgar McCarrick, presented the lecture and was accompanied by William Miller, America’s Ambassador to Ukraine, and the Bishop John Bryson Sheen from the Anglican Church and Archbishop of Washington National Cathedral. The lecture sought to activate inter-religious dialogue, as well as find a rapprochement between religions, civilizations and different cultures. Furthermore, the lecture discussed developing plans for fighting terrorism and extremism.
