The UNESCO chose the Executive Director of the UNESCO Chair at the UOK, Dr. Hassan Nadhem, and Sayyid Jawad Al-Koei to head the development of inter-religious dialogue studies in the Islamic world, for a period of four years.
This choice was based on the UNESCO Chair Agreement that was signed between the UOK and UNESCO.
The UNESCO Chair for the Development of Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in the Islamic World was formally awarded to the UOK for its active role in adopting the confrontation of sectarianism and the dialogue between religions and sects, as well as the acceptance of others.
For its part, the UNESCO Chair at the university held and organized a number of seminars, conferences, workshops, and closed video-conferences. It also reached out to other Chairs and benefited from the experiences of several countries which are witnessing.
