UOK PRESIDENCY OPENS PALM RESEARCH UNIT
The Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Akeel Abed Yasseen, recently opened the Palm Research Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture.
The opening ceremony included an inspection of the course of daily business in the laboratory and the progress in the stages of palm propagation histologically.
Dr. Yasseen expressed his support for the project and instructed the overcoming of all obstacles and supporting the project with the latest devices and equipment, as well as completing the maintenance of the unit’s buildings.
For his part, the head of the Palm Research Unit, Dr. Muslim Abed Ali Al-Rubaie, explained the ongoing work stages and details of the stages of propagation histologically by using apical rosebuds, leading to the production of seedlings and transferring them to the field.
This occurred during the end of the council meeting which was held at the Faculty of Agriculture in the presence of the deans of the faculties at the UOK.
