The UOK Rector, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Abed Yaseen, welcomed a delegation from the General Organization for Cultural Development to Care for Turkish Interests, belonging to the Turkish Prime Minister.
The meeting sought to enhance the overall developmental and cultural cooperation programs between the two sides.
Among those who attended the meeting was the dean of the Faculty of Languages, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kilaby, and the head of the Turkish Language Department, Dr. Amir Al Khalidi.
Dr. Yaseen displayed to the members of the delegation all the programs and strategies taken-up by the UOK to advance their scientific standards and upgrade the quality and academic accreditation standards.
He also discussed the establishment of a laboratory for Turkish language, which is currently under construction and is supervised by members of the organization.
For their part, members of the delegation stressed on the historical
and cultural ties between the Iraqi and Turkish people. They expressed
their full cooperation in the field of promoting academic relations
with the UOK, in particular with regard to the implementation of joint
research between researches from Turkish universities and their
counterparts at the UOK. Furthermore, they aspired to establish joint
cultural centers for cultural and scientific exchange.
